I thought it had a strip of adhesive to seal the flap

Exactly what I needed for vintage magazines. Almost paper thin but firm and strong to hold pages securely. At first I was a little dismayed at the thinness but once I started using them I saw that they are perfect for the function and they slide easily into vertical magazine racks and stand up without drooping.

I use these sleeves to protect collectible First Edition hardback books. I have removed books from these sleeves years after placing the book in the sleeve and it looks just as pristine today as it did when I purchased it. No foxing (yellowing of pages) or acidification of the pages with age. It also protects the dust jacket and protects the bottom of the boards from shelf damage.
