If you don't use the dividers 72 tapes will fit in the box.

Solid box perfect for storing these things. Shelves are not sturdy enough to support tapes when stood vertically, though, so don't try that. Compartments in top and bottom rows hold five tapes loosely or six snugly w/o sleeves (as shown here), so can actually hold 54 tapes if you wish, not just 48.
