Thin but strong--just right for storing bulky 78s.

These heavy duty 10 inch sleeves are great with deep groove heavy 78s, but for my purposes are not so. I have 10 inch indie punk vinyl made from 1984 to 2010. Therefore, the discs are not deep groove heavy vinyl. I have been having problems with new lps heavy duty paper inner sleeves causing hairline scratch damage during shipment of new lp purchases. I seem to not have a problem with thinner paper sleeves. Two of the new lps that had hairline damage were 2011/2012 pressings, so I felt that the hairline damage may have also occurred in the handling/storage of the different sellers involved. Therefore, I am becoming hesitant with heavy duty paper inner sleeves in general. And this is the only 10 inch paper sleeve thickness that is offered. The known flaw with the top lip not having the indentation to ease insertion of the vinyl into the sleeve is also a big complaint of mine. If the Bags Unlimited folks used the sleeves often, I feel they would realize the clumsiness when trying to open the sleeve with one hand while balancing the vinyl in the other. If the item is not user friendly, it is hard to rate it "good". If the item is acknowledged flawed and no changes or options are offered, then the company is not really trying to provide the service that they are actually wanting to give to their customers. Sometimes I feel like bags unlimited doesn't provide enough diversity in their product line. And thinner 10 inch sleeves might also be a higher profit margin than the thicker sleeves. The heavy duty sleeves were crisp, clean, fitted fine, the hole is a bit large and the opening is a hassle to get into - therefore it is really hard to rate this as any better than ok. The roughness of the paper of these heavy duty sleeves can cause hairline scratches to new vinyl and that is bad for archival long term vinyl storage.

"Great sleeves, nice & thick!" Perfect for 78's.......however, these sleeves do not have a top lip separating the opening, it might or might not be a problem, it's sort of cumbersome for me though.....also....wish the center hole were a little bit smaller.....the same size as the 78 record label, protecting the dead wax.....

These are fully adequate, fairly substantial sleeves. They are entirely satisfactory for record storage. They are not as heavy as "Disc-O-File" sleeves but are half the price and work quite well. They will also accommodate Edison Diamond Disc records satisfactorily. My only suggestion is that it can take a moment to open the sleeve. It would be helpful to make a slight indent at one of the open ends, making it easier to open. Finally, I don't see where they are available in 12" size.
